Amazon Alexa & Lex on Master Data Online

Do we really need an on-boarding process for new applications in the workplace? In the current day and age, it is important to keep up with the quality of life improvements on enterprise apps as well. Would it not be amazing to manage your work activities with voice commands?  May be the app can teach the person how it works, behaves and responds? With API’s like Alexa provided by Amazon, we don’t have to reinvent the wheel, just piggy back the Lex API framework and plug in your intentions.

Well, the Master Data Online (MDO) mobile app, an enterprise tool to govern and manage Master Data (… any data), will be getting the Alexa treatment soon. Couple of internal proof of concepts look promising. I hope this will bring down the learning curve of using the MDO app on the enterprise space.

Here is an architecture diagram of using voice commands to reject a spare part creation request on MDO.

Hmm, looks good right, so how far away are we from realising this? Not that far, the team in collaboration with Amazon is excited to release initial working builds early Q2 2019.
